Did something specific happen to prompt you to write this book?
Yes. What prompted me to write this book is that one evening while relaxing after work I put on my stereo and I went to lay on the couch, listening to music is a normal unwinding routine I’ve done many times before But this time a song from the CD I had on gave me an idea for a story. After thinking about it for a while I decided to write it down never thinking that a line or two from a song could give me that type of scenario.
Who or what is the inspiration behind this book?
What inspired my story is my love of music. This was a way for me to put what I love into a story by having the main character become a musician . And the isolation he continues to face even after achieving success. It’s also dedicated to 13 of my favorite music artists.
Who is your biggest supporter?
My biggest supporter is a friend I’ve met here in Bristol Michelle Walch. She is an avid reader and when I told her I had a story written she wanted to read it. She also gave me some advice on making the story flow better, filling in the gaps and also helped with the first round of editing. And she has also given me encouragement to keep promoting the book since it’s been available.
What cause are you most passionate about and why?
I’m very concerned with how the music industry is run and I am trying to educate people about how future generations will not have the luxury like we did of hearing “new” music on a regular basis. If things continue the way they are NO artists will be able to make a living solely by making music. I have a petition to Save The Music up on Change.org for a more in depth explanation please check it out and help Letssavethemusic……http://www.change.org/petitions/anyone-who-cares-about-music-stand-up-to-the-music-industry-by-demanding-no-new-re-buy-tactics
What is the most important thing in your life right now?
The most important thing in my life right now is working on promotion for this book. As with any writer it’s not just about writing but having people read and enjoy it.
Is there an author that inspired you to write?
I can’t say I have an author that inspired me to write. But my favorite author is John Saul and what I like most about his writing is he builds up the storyline and about midway through comes to a plateau then brings you to the climax. In other words, you will never know what color socks the hero is wearing. He’s direct and to the point and as a reader that holds my interest. That is what I aspire to do in my writing hold the readers interest.
What are some of your long term goals?
My long term goal for this book is to have readers become involved with the story by playing the game. My ultimate fantasy would be to organize an artist sponsored contest. Readers could find the clues and submit them for prizes such as artist autographs, signed CD’s and just maybe backstage passes as a grand prize.
What do you feel sets this book apart from others in the same genre?
What sets my book apart from others in my genre is that the storyline is not overdone. The main character Bryan sets out to fulfill his dreams of stardom by becoming the next major rock superstar. But this is also an Interactive book that includes a music game for the reader to play.
What is your favorite past-time?
My all time favorite past-time is listening to music. Having music on in my home is a must. Some people will use the TV as background noise but not me. I put on the stereo and most times I play an album instead of listening to the radio. In my opinion a home without music is not warm and inviting and one’s mood is reflected in what is being played. A good example is that when I am trying to write I put on either instrumental music or CD’s that I am not familiar with. If I know the lyrics I forget about the writing and become engrossed in the music.
